Quintessential Brands was established in 2011 by Enzo Visone, former CEO of the Campari Group and investment banker Warren Scott, with Mike Salmon as the Brands and Marketing Director. The international drinks group’s vision is to become a leading, independent European spirits company with global reach and world-class brand-building capabilities.
The Quintessential Brands Group includes the companies G&J Distillers and Essential Drinks, the business to business arm. The Quintessential Brands portfolio includes Greenall's Original Gin, BLOOM Gin, Berkeley Square London Dry Gin, Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin and Toussaint Coffee Liqueur.
These brands are all produced by G&J Distillers which is a major distiller and bottler of spirits for the UK and international markets, based in Warrington, Cheshire. G&J Distillers continues the business and traditions of the G&J Greenall company which has been continuously distilling gin since 1761.
Its Master Distiller, Joanne Moore, is only the 7th Master Distiller in the 250 year history of the distillery. Joanne is responsible for the production of over 60% of the gin in the UK and 20% of quality gin produced worldwide. She
joined the business in 1996 and developed her passion for new product development, experimenting with botanicals in the same way chefs explore the use of herbs and spices in their craft. In 2006, Joanne was appointed Master Distiller; the first female gin Master Distiller in the world. She is now custodian of the G&J Distillers’ brands portfolio and brand developer.
Mike Salmon has spent over 25 years’ in the drinks industry starting at IDV and then at Berry Brothers & Rudd where he went on to become CEO of Cutty Sark International. He successfully led the business to become the number three Scotch Whisky brand in Europe. He has worked on the Quintessential Brands’ gin portfolio since 2011.
